On Saturday November 7, 2009, the House of Representatives passed a sweeping health care bill by a vote of 220-215.
It has as of this date in November, 2009, yet to pass the senate. On this day, GOP foes of the bill rallied out side the capital in an effort to influence the vote
against the bill.
The bill did pass with a last minute amendment that prohibits federal funds for abortion services in the public option and in the insurance "exchange" the bill would create.
There are exceptions in the case of rape, incest or if the mother's life is in danger.
You can read the bill in its entirety. Here, it is in PDF form and is 1,990 pages long (PDF pages) It is a large file size. Click the link ---> H. R. 3962 Health Care Bill
If this passes the senate - it will be an important event in American history. It is the most major advance for health care coverage since the creation of Medicare over 40 years ago!
